FYI - My Etsy shop will be "on vacation" while I pack the rest of my house and move to a new place. I plan on re-opening the first week of June. Hopefully by then I will have some cool new stuff to show you, like this badass necklace one of my BFFs (Best Fucking Friends), Sarah Meier, made from my "Angel of Wrath" painting! Isn't she amazing?!?
I'm back! Sorry it's been so long, but I've had a lot going on. Well, I still do, but I'm trying to work through everything one thing at a time, one of those things being this post. There will be new art coming soon. In fact, if you haven't already seen it, I posted a new watercolor painting recently. It's a portrait of one of my favorite artists of all time, Salvador Dalí, which was inspired by my recent trip to the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. If you've never gone, I urge you to go, go, go if you ever find yourself in Florida. It was breathtaking. I'm not exaggerating when I say I cried practically the whole time I walked through it. I had no idea he designed his own jewelry and did watercolors and pen and ink drawings (comics!). Some of his paintings, like my favorite, The Hallucinogenic Toreador, were over 13 feet tall! Others were teeny-tiny. I couldn't believe how much detail he could fit into such a little canvas. I only wish I could show you what I saw, but since cameras are not allowed inside the exhibit, you're just going to have to see it for yourself someday. However, I was allowed to take photographs outside, so I'll post my favorites below. The grounds were magnificent, as was the museum itself and the gift shop where I spent entirely too much money. But that's what vacation is for, right? Part of it? I'll also include some random artsy-fartsy pictures I took (including one I shot while drunk at Chihuly), although I'll spare you the ones of my very pregnant cousin in a bikini, unless she's cool with that... |
